Many ask me how my last days are going by, how am I enjoying these last moments, if I feel sad or nostalgic and like. For some reasons, I always have an answer that is very different from the conventional ones. I am spending almost 99% of my "last days" at home, gorging on all the exotic fun that home offers. I have not been making trips to places with friends because earlier, we were all busy with each of our commitments and later, I have been mostly at home. Do I feel sad? Nah! Nostalgic? A little. Nostalgia is bound to grip you when you head off from a place that is stashed with five years of your memories, where you have interacted with 8 different batches of people, made your decisions, confronted their consequences or to put it all together where you have seen yourself mature from a kid to an adult. You cannot but feel the pinch of nostalgia. But I am not sad. To me, life is taking a new turn and I am happy with the turn that is coming in. Of course the people I lived with will be missed, but come on! With this state of communication technology breakthrough, can one really stay too far? The people who really matter in my life will always be near to me.
Challenging this nostalgia is the excitement perhaps, the excitement of seeing a new phase of life. The excitement magnifies when achievements match expectations. The segment of life I am about to step into seems like the most awaited one so far! Perhaps that is the reason I know I am not sad. This is a moment of getting on with my life, with a smiling farewell to my friends here to welcoming some more elsewhere.
All things said, let me assure the world that I will not be an insensitive, ungrateful alumnus of IIITM. IIITM has already found an integral place in my life, a stepping stone to my ambitions. Whatever it was, howsoever it was, I have spent some very lovable years at this institute. I have bagged many "gargantuan" laughs, some serious studies, few responsible duties and some beautiful relationships.I have explored so many dimensions of my own self. Now its time to do something more with life and that is what I am thrilled about.
In some of these very final days, I see flashes of times I spent here. They were adorable indeed and there stands no chance that they will fade away from my memory. And with this, I would probably say - Adieu, IIITM!
